Since Peter raised it, let me chime in.

There seems to be an assumption that it’s the FO's job to get one of his/her member IdP's to sign up to eduGAIN at the request of an SP from another federation. Why can’t the SP can make contact with the IdP admin (if the local fed ToU allows) and point him/her in the direction of his IT department?

Putting the FO in the communication channel between SP’s and IdP’s is not scaleable IMO.

I'm a bit unhappy with some of the (obviously well-intended)

It's still work in progress and there is a reason why this tool has
not been widely announced yet :-) So, feedback like this is welcome.

OK. I just stumbled across it looking for something else.

To be fair, many pages on the Federations Wiki are out-dated. So, a
lot of handwork was needed to get the URLs in some cases (for the
other's including ACONets I used the ones that Brook's catalog uses).

I think I told brook to update the URLs and the name used there (the
federation has not been using the "AAI" moniker for 3 years now, I
think). Since many of us are in fact collecting non-eduGAIN metadata
aggregates (for different purposes) that's a somewhat common issue, at
least common among people writing such tools
(cg. https://wayf.aco.net/smev/ ) ;)
I don't have a suggestion clearly superior other than the RFEDS
Federation, and that has already been announced to be turned off at
point (which was revoked later).

Good point. Easy to fix. Main idea was to provide this for debugging
purposes.

I removed it.

Thanks. If others are happy with this you can just remove eduID.at
from there but then you can't claim to have "all known academic
identity federations" in there. ;)
(Maybe "All known acedemic identity federations except for one small
village of Gauls...").

The reason for that was exactly to find the issues you mentioned above
("you are not using our correct metadata"). Option would be to instead
link to an official metadata page where all that information can be found.

We provide just that in the REFEDS Federation Survey.
