So one way is to direct users to one landing page, but the other is to tell them to install geteduroam app for whoever system they may be using. If we achieve the goal of having an app for every reasonable system then this approach is very simple as well.

I share Paul's concerns about this. Hopefully the initial landing page
will still exist. On Android it could just direct the user to the
geteduroam link in the Play Store, but, we really need one place to
direct users. So even if some users just see it as a redirect based on
OS, that's still helpful as a starting point.
