we do eat our own dog food: all my openwrt aps here do pppoe (under the 
gretap)
moreover all my internet access does pppoe (and the dataplane's point of view,
it's completely irrelevant if it's a client or server side, they just deal 
with
the ip4/ip6 pppoe frames, all the rest handled in freerouter...)
