hi,

i first wan't to thank the people running this project. I'm really

there is no roadmap at the moment, but we thank and hopefully will implement
every suggestion...
at the time, the dataplanes can already do a lot of things, more about it at
http://rare.freertr.net/
these is just the basic forwarding capabilities, the control plane can
compute from a huge number
of routing protocols the exported tables... they're not explicitly listed
there, but at freertr.net.

To my simple question: There is a blog post[1] and multiple
presentations by Frédéric about running RARE on a single board computer
with intel dpdk NICs as CPE. Which Hardware was used for the device?

basically any recent cpu with an intel nic will do the trick...
dpdk is a bit picky on the nic, refer to http://core.dpdk.org/supported/
i personally use a lot of i350-t4 and i82599es plugged to commodity desktop
i7-6700 and i7-3770 based pcs...

one thing to note, that dpdk also supports virtio nics very well so you can
try out basic things in virtualbox very easily.
but be careful, dpdk activation is not automatic, so for the first some
packets, it is easier to play with p4emu, which is
the same forwarder but with libpcap... it's activation is fully automatic...

regards,
cs
