Hi,
you are correct, high characters are not properly encoded. I
have a fix and if it goes fine trough the tests we would be
applying a hot-fix to CAT.
Thanks for helping to locate the problem.

Here's
a bunch of characters that it seems to at least save wrongly in
user_cred.xml:

I've not tested that the installer fails on all of these, but
the random samples I did test failed.
But could it be that all unicode characters above 160 fails?

OK so it must be it.
Can you tell me which special characters have been used in
the password?

Thanks for the fast response.
I do not believe I have set any option regarding a
wired installation in the CAT profile, so it should
not be the case, which you indicated as a message bug.
However, I tested with an account without special
characters in the password, and then the installer
succeeded with the latest installer. Is there supposed
to be some restrictions on characters in the
password?

Credentials Installation Problem
Hi,
i have just run your installer without a
problem but realised that it displays a message
about the wired but does not install anything.
Looks like a bug in the message, so what I wrote
about the wired does not apply.

Hi,
I'm experiencing the exact same issue
now, on two different machines. I did a
fresh install of Windows on a machine today,
and then setting up Eduroam failed. Also
tested on an old machine that actually had
Eduroam configured, but it still failed at
the same point.
Now, the catch here is that on "the old
computer", I had an old CAT installer, dated
from February, still in the Downloads
folder. Running this successfully installed
Eduroam on both machines. Hence I do believe
it is a problem with the installer?
Could this be related to special
characters in the password?
Info in my failure:
Institution: Stiftelsen Nansen Senter for
Fjernmåling
OS: Windows 10
AntiVirus machine #1: BitDefender
AntiVirus machine #2: Windows Defender
Also, you mentioned some workaround
instructions, where can I find those? In
case I have to remote-assist some user
with this to get on Eduroam if the
installer fails.
Thanks,
Aleksander Vines

[[cat-users]] Credentials Installation
Problem
Hello,
if the exact same binary works on other
instances of Windows 7, then
this strongly suggests that this
particular machine has something "odd"
to it.
We do know of problems regarding
Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) on
that platform. Is SEP installed there,
and did the credentials error
message say something about that?
Did you/the user follow the
corresponding workaround instructions?

Stefan Winter
