Hi,
From the details window I see that the installer is setting up the wired eduroam as well. Does the old installer do that as well?
The installer will only go for the wired install if this option is set in the CAT profile. Is it intentional?

If the installer works in the wired mode then it needs to run with the admin rights, it should elevate itself to this level.

Now to get some more useful details it would be great to run the installer in the debug mode.
To do that you need to open the CMD window, go to the directory where the installer is located and call it with -DEBUG=4
flag.
It will then produce a log file and it will also leave profiles in the temporary directory, one could then in principle be able to install them manually and see.

I will download  your current installer and try to see if I get the same problems.
Yours
Tomasz

Hi,

I'm experiencing the exact same issue now, on two different machines. I did a fresh install of Windows on a machine today, and then setting up Eduroam failed. Also tested on an old machine that actually had Eduroam configured, but it still failed at the same point.

Now, the catch here is that on "the old computer", I had an old CAT installer, dated from February, still in the Downloads folder. Running this successfully installed Eduroam on both machines. Hence I do believe it is a problem with the installer?

Could this be related to special characters in the password?

Info in my failure:
Institution: Stiftelsen Nansen Senter for Fjernmåling
OS: Windows 10
AntiVirus machine #1: BitDefender
AntiVirus machine #2: Windows Defender

Also, you mentioned some workaround instructions, where can I find those? In case I have to remote-assist some user with this to get on Eduroam if the installer fails.

Thanks,
Aleksander Vines

Hello,

if the exact same binary works on other instances of Windows 7, then
this strongly suggests that this particular machine has something "odd"
to it.

We do know of problems regarding Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) on
that platform. Is SEP installed there, and did the credentials error
message say something about that?

Did you/the user follow the corresponding workaround instructions?

Greetings,

Stefan Winter
