Hi,

The log entry in the Lab’s “Trend Micro” only has some regular “scan entries” … nothing for this.

I’ve just tried to download and run the installer for another institute (Adelphi) and it works (that the “Welcome to the eduroam installer”

pop up and I can “Next”… until it invites to type username/password …).

So, the problem is only for the executable for out Lab. (BNL) !

The installer file - the one that you save, never disappears. It unpacks some temporary files and deletes those, but never itself.
I am pretty sure that  your antyvirus is playing tricks on you. Perhaps you should take a look at its logs?

Dear Tomasz and David,

Thank you for your response.   But I’ve tried and I’ve just tried again …

I’ve tried to save the file in various folders by using the “save as” option or by right-clicking it to “save as” … etc.

But whenever I tried to run it, that Error message would pop up.  It’s the same even if I tried “Run as administrator”.

It’s weird that that file would disappear after you tried to run on it  or  become hidden.  In Windows, you have to unclick “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) in order to see it … It’s very werid … I’ve never remember seeing anything like that.

Hello,
this is most likely an antivirus blocking execution of files downloaded from the Internet.
When you access the CAT installer, the download happens automatically, but on the screen you also see a link to the download. You might try to right-click this link and then save the file in some location of your choice and try run from there.

Hi,

I am a physicist from the Brookhaven National Lab.  Our Lab. has just tried to introduce “Eduroam”.

I've had "administrative privilege" for my BNL laptop (Windows 7) and I've installed many software.

After reading the instructions, I went to https://cat.eduroam.org/  to try to set up the eduroam profiles on your computer.

After I chose “Brookhaven National Laboratory”,  I got to download the file

eduroam-W7-BNL.exe    .

But when I tried to run,  it'd pop up an Error message :

“ Windows cannot access the speicified device, path, or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.”

I attach the screenshot (in .jpg picture).   Even if I right-click and "Run as Administrator", it still gives the same error !!

( The file seems a bit strange as it’s kind of hidden and may disappear after a little while. )

Can you please let me know what I can do ???

Kin
