compatibility dates back to some devices from 2007:

Which is ... wow! If things actually work as advertised, I think we can
rather safely forget about Mac OS pre-Profile support.

I'll be installing Mavericks on my work laptop today - *and* turn on
Hotspot 2.0 on our APs. Time to see if the sky will be falling ;-)
