hi,
so if you use the same address assignment for freerouter and the linux then
both tcp/ip stack will think that he have to answer the packet...
in generally speaking, it's a big no-no to assign an address to a linux
interface that freerouter have to deal with...
so as your freerouter is up and running, just use the tun-tap created during
the intallation to reach your linux from freerouter,
and then you can safely remove the address from linux... you can safely
configure freerouter without the risk of losing the box
if you do this in any of the following:
-start your config sessions with a "reload in 15" then if you lose the box,
it'll recover
-configure rollback is similar but using the sho conf/sho roll/conf rev
features under the hood...

Hi Csaba,

sorry for the delay,

I still don't have an answer about the dhcp server, but I managed to set a
static route and it worked, however I am having one more problem.

As I am using a public machine remotely to use freeRouter, I have set the
same IP address as the host machine, as it has not taken over the host
interface.

With this the ping seems to be giving as a duplicate:

tetzner@pop-os:~$ ping 213.150.x.x
PING 213.150.x.x (213.150.x.x) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x: icmp_seq=1 ttl=42 time=182 ms
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x: icmp_seq=1 ttl=233 time=182 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x: icmp_seq=2 ttl=42 time=182 ms
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x icmp_seq=2 ttl=233 time=182 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x icmp_seq=3 ttl=42 time=181 ms
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x: icmp_seq=3 ttl=233 time=181 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x: icmp_seq=4 ttl=42 time=181 ms
64 bytes from 213.150.x.x: icmp_seq=4 ttl=233 time=181 ms (DUP!)

One solution I thought of is to create a reserved namespace and connect it to
the interface via pcapInt or another tool, or even bridge the host and
connect it to the freeRouter.
I was wondering if you had any tips on how I could solve this problem.

Sincerely,
Gabriel Tetzner Menegueti
