Indeed. Thanks. Any chance that any of these other characters could be causing the problem you observe?
Still this does not explain why the old exe worked.

In the case of the failed installation, is it possible that the password contains the ampersand character? If so then it is known and will be fixed in the 2.0.1 update which will appear in April.

I reviewed that thread but no ampersand was used here. And all our passwords are restricted to ASCII 32-126 characters.
The password is installed via an xml profile. Characters like the ampersand could make the xml become invalid, if you could take a look at that password from this perspective, perhaps you could guess the reason. The ampersand is an obvious case, but perhaps thee is something else I did not think about?

I have been there in the past (escaping characters for XML), and there are more characters that will render an incorrect XML file (http://xml.silmaril.ie/specials.html) and should be escaped.

Even when the credentials installation fails, the user should still be able to connect to eduroam - Windows should pop up the credentials prompt and ten save the credentials properly.

That is nice but our users take this issue as an error. Could the pop-up message be a bit more verbose?
You means something that would say that this failed but you will be able to use eduroam  anyway? I guess we could make the message better.

Yes, something like "please report this as an error but proceed by introducing credentials again when asked to".
