I agree that eduroam.no/connect is missing some functionality that is available in CAT. We’ve started with functionality we think is important for our (Norwegian) end-users, but decided not to limit the website to Norway in case someone else thinks the website is useful. The current design is based on the official uninett style [1], so if we’re to take this international, a redesign must be done anyway.

Maybe we should have a meeting? There’s probably too much to discuss for eduroam SG, so I think a separate meeting might be a good idea.

I’ll discuss this in more detail tomorrow with Tom.

We did not implement this functionality for no reason, it came form real needs and expectations. When you serve such a large community such requirements are numerous. For instance, CAT can do institution pre-selection, which you have asked for, like:
https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=1 or even profile preselection like https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=1&profile="2

CAT can do web redirects, can pop up pre-download messages, can display institution logos, will tell you where to seek support in your institution,  supports multiple languages, supports geolocation and much more. 

So while I strongly support a change, this change should preserve the things that we now have.

Or even better, but probably too much to ask:  https://eduroam.no/connect/#MyInstitute so that a certain Institute is preselected.

Just a different end-user interface intended for Norway, but you will find all profiles there. 

Admins must use cat.eduroam.org

Hello,

CAT is very useful for us, but the design/user interface of the CAT 
pages could use some improvement, especially the mobile version of the 
site. Are there plans to improve the web design/User Interface?

Our current developer base is more on the technical level, not design gurus :-)

Of course we also realise that UI improvements are possible.

This basically needs a UI-savvy volunteer to help out. Please let us know if you are able to contribute (HTML/_javascript_/...) code...

Secondly we are wondering if there are any plans to add a Swedish 
translation of the CAT tool.

There is currently a partial Swedish translation on our translation system (49% completion, most of the end-user visible parts are done).
Due to its sub-optimal completion level, it was not included in any release yet.

Again, we need Swedish native speaker volunteers to complete the translation work. Translation can be done on a web interface of the company "Transifex" (https://www.transifex.com/eduroam_devel/cat/language/sv/ ).

Again, please do let us know if you want to volunteer for the translation.
