Hello
I continue trying to install RARE/Freertr folowing the instructions here: https://docs.freertr.org/guides/installation/wedge100bf32/onie-nos-install/
I connect this morning using the console port.
The Grub menu appears partially. (I need to strike UP/DOWN arrows)
Unfortunately, "ONIE rescue mode" does not appear.
I tried "advanced options for rare ...",
I finally got a Grub menu, I choose "RARE/GNU ... recovery mode"
(which is not the "ONIE rescue mode") but ...
Then nothing
Do you have any suggestion to upgrade this machine, please?
1/ is it possible to reset this machine to return to factory
settings? then it should be more
2/ any other solution to install the new version of RARE/Freertr?
Do you have a link to wedge documentation that I can read?
Thank you
Xavier
Hello
here is a screenshot of what I see.
you can see
1/ the rm that I have to do, as last "sol.sh" did end up
properly
2/ wedge_power.sh
3/ sol.sh
The process then wrote information at the top of the screen
"Portwell ... Bios" and then write over Welcome to GRUB
Then the booting sequence start (see picture attached)
Maybe it is due to a wrong configuration of my terminal.
I used Putty, same configuration used to connect to Freertr or
other router
Maybe I can try on the console port but today I work remotely from office.
Any suggestion?
Thank you
Xavier
Hello Alexandre
Thank you for your answer.
There is no "release-manager" installed on the Wedge.
I tried both at BMC level and also by connecting on
RARE/Freertr
Frédéric explained the history of this machine.
DAV0001#show version
freeRouter v22.2.22-cur, done by cs@nop.

Xavier

I tried to install on a Wedge 100BF-32X the new version of Rarefreertr to benefit of the profil version.
In general, you shouldn't need to perform another ONIE installation. The new version can be installed with release-manager (or tna-install-latest from freertr unless your current version is very old). Which version of RARE is currently running there ("release-manager --list-installed")?
I follow the documentation - http://docs.freertr.org/guides/installation/wedge100bf32/onie-nos-install/
This applies to a new system that doesn't have a NOS installed yet. There you would see the ONIE boot menue directly after a reboot. But if the system has already been installed with our ONIE installer previously (which is the case here IIUC), you should see the Grub menue with the first entry pointing to the Debian boot for RARE. There should also be a line "ONIE" that would chain-load the ONIE installer (from which you could then select "ONIE install" or "ONIE rescue"). However, that menue should be displayed for 5 seconds, not sure why that seems to have been much shorter in your case :/ If you don't do anything you would simply boot back into RARE.
I encounter the following pb:
* connection BMC - OK * wedge_power.sh reset - OK * I run sol.sh. Following the doc, I want to select the ONIE option "ONIE rescue mode" in a menu I see the menu appearing for a very very short time (I suppose it is the Grub menu) but it impossible to choose the ONIE option ""ONIE rescue mode" as immediately the process starts a boot sequence (I think it is a linux boot?). The process never ends repeating the following output : [ 357.803857] bf 0000:06:00.0: error bad ring index -44 in tx completion [ 357.816981] bf 0000:06:00.0: error bad ring index -44 in tx completion [ 359.774675] bf 0000:06:00.0: error bad ring index -44 in tx completion [ 359.787837] bf 0000:06:00.0: error bad ring index -44 in tx completion [ 359.800971] bf 0000:06:00.0: error bad ring index -44 in tx completion [ 361.790739] bf 0000:06:00.0: error bad ring index -44 in tx completion
That's strange. It looks like bf_switchd has a problem initializing the Tofino ASIC. I have never seen this before. If restaring freerouter doesn't help (sudo systemctl restart freerouter), maybe try another power-cycle :/
* I can still connect to the switch with another window but I cannot complete the re-installation process
Please try $ sudo -i release-manager --install-git origin/master to perform the upgrade. -- Alex
Any idea to correct this ? Should I need to strike a specific key to access to the menu ?
thank you Xavier
