In general, you shouldn't need to perform another ONIE
installation. The new version can be installed with release-manager
(or tna-install-latest from freertr unless your current version is
very old). Which version of RARE is currently running there
("release-manager --list-installed")?

This applies to a new system that doesn't have a NOS installed
yet. There you would see the ONIE boot menue directly after a
reboot. But if the system has already been installed with our ONIE
installer previously (which is the case here IIUC), you should see the
Grub menue with the first entry pointing to the Debian boot for
RARE. There should also be a line "ONIE" that would chain-load the
ONIE installer (from which you could then select "ONIE install" or
"ONIE rescue").

However, that menue should be displayed for 5 seconds, not sure why
that seems to have been much shorter in your case :/ If you don't do
anything you would simply boot back into RARE.

That's strange. It looks like bf_switchd has a problem initializing
the Tofino ASIC. I have never seen this before. If restaring
freerouter doesn't help (sudo systemctl restart freerouter), maybe try
another power-cycle :/

Please try

$ sudo -i release-manager --install-git origin/master

to perform the upgrade.
