well, so what i saw in the nvidia lab was a regular arm64 board with tons of 
cpu
cores and a full debian system and a custom dpdk that they backported since 
then...
(so imho your nix builds will be fine once you find a way to swapn p4dpdk... 
:) )

the nvidia nic it was just the dpu and not the asic... but i saw some 
brochures
from the asic+dpu and if i got it correctly, then they simply connected the 
dpu
to some tofino ports... we support stacking between arbitrary dataplanes 
already,
i personally run my openwrts with our ebpf/xdp dataplane doing just bridging 
and
the rest (routing, macsec, sdwan, etc) are handled at the closest dpdk node 
here,
so im pretty sure if we can boot something up on the asic+dpu then we're 
almost
ready with the task... :)
