The newest version in this instance of nixpkgs (release 20.09) is 14
so I'm going to use that. jvm16 is in nixpkgs 21.05, but I'm not
currently planning to migrate.

Ok, but we'll have to sort out how exactly the autoupograde is going
to interact with the Nix-based release management anyway.
