Hi,

Apparently, your portal at https://eduroam-provision.newman.ac.uk/ has no intermediate certificate via https; so the GET to https://eduroam-provision.newman.ac.uk/ fails because of an SSL error (SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.)

If you'd include the intermediate certificate from the webserver, it should work. Many browsers probably won't notice, but it's not correct to leave out the intermediate; if it's not previously known, there is no trust path to the root CAs.

Regards,
Paul

Hi,

That's odd. I can't explain right away, but we'll look into this,

Meanwhile the alternative would be to download the .eap-config files from your portal or CAT, and load them via the file-association into the Apps. But of course the discovery should just work!

Paul

geteduroam has recently stopped finding our ('Birmingham Newman
University') institution profiles. Our profiles are still on
cat.eduroam.org and I haven't made any changes to them for at
least a year, might something have been tightened up recently
that makes the existing ones no longer valid?

A colleague tested with the following devices:

Samsung S24 Ultra running Android 14 (One UI 6.1) with eduroam
App Version 2.0.1(1926) using full 5G Data
Google Pixel 7a running Android 15 with eduroam App Version
2.0.1(1926) using Wi-Fi

Details of what occurs:

After downloading the geteduroam app from the Google Play Store,

they searched for 'Birmingham Newman University' and clicked on
the relevant option. From there, it displays an error with a
header "Cannot complete request" with a message saying "Unable
to resolve profile configuration. Please check your connection
and try again".

If you press OK on the pop-up that comes up, it takes you into
the Profiles section, but does not display the two options that
are normally there. If you press the connect button, it does not
do anything.

The Google Pixel was already set up on eduroam using their staff
email, and has not affected the profile that is already
installed. However, the S24 has never been put on eduroam before
and does not have the profile.
