Hi Andria,

Oman KID — as mentioned by Brook in his initial e-mail — is Oman’s other identity federation, and already an eduGAIN member.  I think it would be of great value if @Musallam and/or @Warda could clarify to us the relationship between Oman KID and the OMREN Federation.

Mikkel, WAYF/Denmark

Hi,

Some comments from CIF:

In MRPS document:

Section 4:

- MRPS document is missing from the website https://fed.omren.om/

-Registration practices change over time, so is recommended editions of this document are distinguished by their dates of publication and by a compact URL derived from that date. MRPS identifier of "https://fed.omren.om” doesn’t allow for versioning.

Section 5

-You forgot “Example Wording”

-5.1 “The right to use a domain name SHALL be established in one of the following ways:”, but there is only one way. You can rephrase it, or you can add also other ways.

Section 6

- 6.1 Communication of change happens via (e-mail, Federation registry tool etc.), need to be finished.

In Policy:

-Section 1, Digital Identity definition, is double you may want to merge cells.

-Section 3.2 OMAN KID?, there is no definition.

-Technology Profiles are missing.

Kind Regards,

Andria D.

Subject: [eduGAIN-discuss] Assessment of Oman/OMREN Fed for eduGAIN membership

All,

I present to you the application of Oman / OMREN Fed who has Signed the eduGAIN Declaration, has a policy based on the policy template, is self declaring their federation as a production service and is wanting to join the global R&E federated environment.

You can find more detailed information about the federation under "eduGAIN Candidates” at
    https://technical.edugain.org/status.php
which contains links to their policy and MRPS.

This application is from an organisation that is closely aligned with the GÉANT community, is a subscriber to the Trusted Certificate Service and affiliated with The Research Council of Oman (TRC) with slightly different goals from the existing Omani federation (Oman KID). OMREN is developing a range of services to support federated access and participation in eduGAIN is an important step for them on this path.

So I ask the following federations to specifically review the submission by OMREN Fed:

 * Croatia/AAIEduHr

 * Cyprus/CIF

 * Czech Republic/eduID.cz

 * Denmark/WAYF

 * Ecuador/ColFIRE

All eduGAIN members can (and should) provide feedback on this but to share the burden of review around, these five (5) federations have a specific responsibility.

If you have any questions please contact the OMREN Fed team (Musallam and Warda) that are subscribed to this mailing list as well as CC’d to this message.

Formal components of the membership process will be via the eduGAIN Steering Group mailing list.

Thanks,

Brook Schofield
