Hello,

it is displayed on every push of the download button for Android 8+, as a separate info box reading:

"Before you proceed with installation on Android systems, please make sure that you have installed the geteduroam application. This application is available from these sites: Google Play, as local download and will use the configuration file downloaded from CAT to create all necessary settings."

Thank you Daniele for the Geant link. And thank you Stefan for the info on Android 8+, I can see the message correctly.

As I understand it, the Geant page suggests geteduroam for all OSes (Windows, IiOS/iPadOS, Android 8+), while cat.eduroam.org only for Android 8+. What do you think would be the best way to inform users on secure eduroam configuration? Still via cat.eduroam.org or geteduroam.app?

Not really. The page on the wiki describes that the geteduroam apps exist and work. It is not generally a suggestion to prefer those over the CAT website.

The only OS where there is a recommendation is for Android, because the eduroam CAT *app* on that platform is old and discontinued.

For Windows, iOS it's your choice as an admin in the end which you want to use or promote.

The geteduroam apps generally have the disadvantage of needing internet access during runtime, while the installers and profiles delivered by CAT are self-sufficient. In exchange, they are less constrained in UI because they have their own, and use APIs in a richer way.

And for ChromeOS, Linux and macOS, there is not currently a geteduroam app, so there you don't really have a choice to make at all - CAT website is the only option.

Greetings,

Stefan Winter
