I'm not sure how I can help here. If a user changes their password in
your identity management system, then all the places where the password
is being used have to be updated with the new password.

This is true for eduroam logins as much as it is for any other services
asking for and storing the user's password.

In the eduroam CAT app, after the initial installation, there is a
username and password input box, and yes, once the password was changed
the user has to go there and type his new password.

I fail to see how else the workflow could be.

Maybe I'm just misinterpreting your post?
