Hello,

this sounds suspiciously like a web proxy setting.

We set this to "Auto" in iOS 7+. This means the iPhone will look for a
web proxy via WPAD and DHCP.

Now if those proxy entries exist but don't actually point to a valid
proxy, web traffic goes nowhere.

Maybe you could investigate proxy settings after the device is
connected? And that it either has none if you don't actually have one,
or that it points to the correct one if you do have one.
