The CAT is growing very quickly throughout all particpants (we've
surpassed 130.000 user downloads altogether meanwhile!).
With the numbers growing so fast, I realise that statistics become more
important.
It's easy to add federation-level APIs which would allow federation
admins to download their stats on a regular basis. This is currently in
the works and will very likely make it into 1.0.4 even.
It is much more difficult to do the same for IdP admins though:
authentication to the CAT interface only works with SAML, i.e. involves
HTTP redirects to arbitrary IdPs. It is hard to achieve that with, say,
a cron job which would fetch the data on a regular basis.
An easy way around this (but I'm not sure if you IdP admins would be
happy with it) is: can the per-inst stats be downloaded
*unauthenticated*, i.e. for everyone?
If there is no perceived issue with that amount of publicity, making the
stats available via a simple POST and an XML response could be
implemented in no time...
Greetings,
Stefan Winter
