- Subject: [RARE-users] reenablement of bgp prefix packing...
- Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2023 08:02:00 +0100
hi,
i've re-enabled bgp prefix packing that went out of service when we got
addpath rx/tx support...
now it's functioning again and it saved 22% of the updates and 17% of the
bytes... the latter is
quite low because these connections already use the
draft-bgp-compressed-updates which takes
better care of this by reducing the bgp chattyness to 1/5 in average...
the 10.10.10.25 got the new code early and i let it ran for half a day and
both the new and the
old code arrived to exactly the same rib-in after comparing them so it shows
the correctness of
the current algorithm implemented... this testing involved a lot of
incremental updates and some
route refreshes which induced a full reflooding then switching to the
incremental mode...
br,
cs
