alex: any idea what spams here? that prompt seems weirdo, without any
user/pass, and then the segfault to quit... :)
I have never seen a 2556 boot, so can't compare. All the messages
about "luaCLI" and "cmdShell" seems to be related to the Marvell
stuff. Don't know if that's part of the SAL. I certainly have never
seen this when I tested the RARE release on Jordi's 2556 :/
At least the rest appears to be as expected :)
@Eoin, the rare user can also sudo and you can login with root without
pw on the serial console. Should all be in the docs somewhere. Maybe
@Frederic can provide a pointer.

Hi Csaba, Alex,
Ok, I did my BIOS upgrades from 1.0 to 1.2.1 and finally 1.3.
From the onie prompt I stopped onie using onie-stop and addeded a public IP address/route.Using onie-nos-install
http://hydra.nix.net.switch.ch/RARE/releases/1/onie-installer.bin
The install kicked off. A copy of the output is here:
https://github.com/sonicepk/BF2556X-1T-ONIE-freeRouter/blob/main/stordis-install.txt
I now have a Debian login prompt. I could not find this in the documentation
or in this email archive...

Thanks for your help.
Regards
Eoin

hi,
http://docs.freertr.org/guides/installation/wedge100bf32/onie-nos-install/
it's for the wedges, but imho it should not be different for the bf2556tx
tl;dt: first try this particular box in an isolated lab because there are two
things to note:
1) we had a port up/down issue in that release so it's highly recommended to
upgrade to something newer...
2) i run a bf2556tx and there were magical issues: running the switch on the
official bsp970 designed for sde970
on a debian11 installation, everything worked fine... whereas running
official image (sde971 + bsp970) was not...
as it's my core router of my homenet and when it caused issues, i was cut
offline from almost all of my troublehsooting
tools, so i just noted the issue and left it as is... i simply plugged the
power cord of the switch as nothing else helped...
since these experiences, the box is at my nren (we're piloting a 4k mpls l2tp
lns) on debian11 + sde990 without bsp...
that possibility is on it's way to the official releases, but as my box is
remote, i did not had the chance to play
with if further on the latest official rare builds...
regards,
cs

Hi Alex,
We now have or BF2556X-1T. It boots to an ONIE shell. Is there an
installation guide for freeRouter on the BF2556X-1T?
Thanks
Eoin

Hi RARE team,
Great to see freeRouter/NOS support for the boxes below. Are there any plans
to support the BF2556X-1T?
You have a review of the BF2556X-1T here, so it sounds like you might be
working on it:
