Hi !

It is a pleasure to announce the availability of the first iteration of
RARE/freeRtr integration into ContainerLab (https://containerlab.dev/)

Even if RARE/freeRtr already have a simulation environment that you can
experience here below:
https://github.com/rare-freertr/validated-design

We are fully convinced that should be available for other simulation
environment software such as ContainerLab

This is now reality, you can enjoy RARE/freeRtr within a ContainerLab lab:
https://github.com/rare-freertr/freeRtr-containerlab

As a reminder, ContainerLab let’s you leverage not only NOS having container
format but also VM based NOS (using vrnetlab or boxen integration)

The result is that you can simulate a gigantic lab and connect it to external
system. (Full routing feed, etc…)

It is not suitable for high performance test, but it will let you validate
your network architecture in a CI/CD model.

You can easily totally clone a shadow of your NREN network for example and «
cut and paste » production configuration
and verify effective control plane signalling (Such as BGP).

Even better:
- You can thus develop an umbrella system/OSS on top of this virtual model
without any hassle or workload on the REAL production network
- Perform simulation with traffic engineering (PCEP[RFC5440] / ALTO[RFC7285]
server) and have a clear idea of what would happen when you would implement
it on the REAL network.

Kudos to mc36[Csaba MATE]@freeRtr hellt[Roman DODIN]@Nokia for their help.

Happy networking !

All the best,
Frederic
