Hi geteduroam-list,
I'm happy to share we plan to release the new Android,
ChromeOS and iOS
versions of geteduroam to production in the Play and App
store (very)
soon. These are entirely redeveloped and redesigned version
of the Apps.
If you want a preview, you can join the beta via the Play

As mentioned in other channels/meetings, we worked hard on
new
geteduroam releases this year. At TNC we shared the first
TestFlight for
iOS and macOS, and a version of the Linux CLI. Last week we
shared the
first open beta of the Android App. Meanwhile the eduroam
community
helped translate to various languages and we'll include as
many as
possible in the release but we plan to release updates more
frequently
anyway.
With the beta last week we fixed a couple of issues, and I
believe we
have no showstoppers anymore. The Android App works faster
on most
devices and better on devices with limited screen
resolution. (We're
still investigating a speed issue for Android 8 that
affects few users.
But it works very well on Android Go for instance, and is
in general
more resource-friendly.) The iOS App has been very stable
for a long
time without any issues. We did a lot of testing on all of
these clients. *)
feel free to contact (or DM) me directly.
For Windows and macOS we plan to have new releases too
shortly. Windows
will include support for ARM in a separate version, is also
redeveloped
from the ground up and includes the new theming. The macOS
App will
assist the user in the installation of a .mobileconfig
profile,
unfortunately macOS still doesn't have the proper support
to configure
WiFi natively.
Regards,
Paul
*) We are aware of some issues with both the old and new
geteduroam
Apps, that seem to affect certain brands. We need to find
out what
profile combination exactly affects these brands, and can
then exclude
the configurations from the App.
