Thanks a million Maja
I had no chance to test it yet I think I implement it in or ResourceRegistry next week.
All the best,
Janusz

Hello,

I added a few new functionalities to the eduGAIN metadata validator.
As Janusz suggested it is now possible to receive the xml response.
When the validator gets the following parameters in the POST/GET request:
from=metadata_URL
xmlout
e.g.
http://www.edugain.org/Metadata/?from=http://mds.edugain.org&xmlout
A response has the following form:
<xml>
<returncode>code</returncode>
<message>
<error>errors info</error>
<warning>warning info</warning>
</message>
</xml>

You could use http://www.edugain.org/Metadata/xml.php instead and then
only 'from' parameter is required.
To check metadata containing one entity (not starting with
EntitiesDescriptor) add 'oneentity' parameter.

The following return codes are provided for now:
0 - success
2 - successful validation but some eduGAIN recommendations failed
4 - successful validation but some eduGAIN requirements failed
10 - metadata URL not available
12 - Federation's metadata URL is not valid

Additionally, now when a request contains 'from' and 'auto' parameters,
e.g.
http://www.edugain.org/Metadata/?from=http://mds.edugain.org&auto
the validation starts automatically - without pressing the Validate button
With 'entities' parameter. e.g.
http://www.edugain.org/Metadata/?from=http://mds.edugain.org&auto&entities
automatically entities list is shown.

I hope it will be useful.

Maja
