Christian,
The QR code is downloadable (by the admin), so users can use their device to scan the QR code and go directly to the profile you want them to use. You'd just need to print out the QR code or publish it on your website along with instructions.
As for using an image, yes, you should be able to do this for *managed* devices (i.e. devices owned by your organisation that you manage through a device management system like InTune or Group Policy). Those with devices they own themselves should probably use geteduroam, or should download the CAT installer, because the CAT installer is signed by GEANT to prove it has not been tampered with. Simply providing a .REG file is unsafe and not recommended.
Kind regards

Dear Tomasz, thanks for your reply. Is there currently a way which doesn’t require a admin Sending a direct link (to an installer) isn’t really helpful (for me), since I don’t know the OS of the recipient. Regarding the 2.2 update – will the updated version just provide (deep link) URLs by default, that would certainly be the easiest and
The last question is about maintainability: Currently we have each user download the CAT tool and run it in their context / user session. That is certainly more complex then it needs to be. Is there a way to run an CAT tool on a fresh installation, create a image from it and use the image on new machines. That way users getting a new machine won’t have to deal with CAT at all, they would just get a login box and go from there. The installer (CAT) would primary be responsible to install the required certificats. It would also be possible to renew those certificates using a centralized software rollout.
Thanks, Christian

Hi, there are three replies to this: 1. If you want to point your users to the CAT download page with institution and profile already selected then the admin institution overview page publishes links and QR codes for that. This will spare the users the step of selecting the institution and profile. The download page will show them contact details, possibly the additional download message if your profile has one and will do the auto-selection of the device type or let the user to select something else. 2. If you want a direct download link to the installer for this institution ans profile and device already set the currently the best way is just to go trough the download process and the copy the link shown on the download page as "In case of problems with the automatic download please use this direct link". 3. In CAT 2.2 which will be available in September the direct links will be available from the "Installer fine-tuning and download" page for each profile. I do not understand the last question. Yours Tomasz Wolniewicz
