Hi,

CAT installers always install a profile named "eduroam" with SSID "eduroam" and on network cards supporting HotSpot 2.0 it also installs a profile called "eduroam via partner" with SSID "cat-passpoint-profile".

If you call "netsh wlan show profiles" then you should see them.

This second profile is added so that the device can be ready for a special use case, which is not jet much used - still it is better to give uses all possible chances of connecting.. Some service providers have agreed to accept eduroam users but not by broadcasting eduroam SSID. Instead they use HotSpot 2.0 on whatever SSID they like and announce the RoamingConsortium identifier - 001bc50460, which is reserved for eduroam.

If a Windows device is in the range of such a network, Windows network selection will probably show something like "the_actual_ssid, eduroam via partner" - this changes with Windows versions and I am not sure what is the actual message. Your device should connect to such a network automatically. The SSID does not matter in such a case, but it cannot be empty in the config, therefore we just set it to "cat-passpoint-profile".

If you are in the range of an SSID eduroam and also such HS 2.0 network, the SSID is supposed to take precedence.

So I think that all is fine with the installer and the standard eduroam connection should work without any problems.

Yours

Issue seems to be the SSID is incorrect and Hotspot2 added. Tried with no hotspot config , didnt work. changes SSID but left hotspot2 and didnt work. Only works when no hotspot 2 config and the correct SSID

Have you had any reports that when using Catool on a windows device , it installs and shows as a managed network but does not show as an available network to connect to?
