Hi Killian,

Am 25.03.24 um 09:36 schrieb Tomasz Wolniewicz (via cat-users Mailing List):
Fr Linux (at least when we were testing it several years ago), setting 802.1x on the
interface would block the possibility to connect to "standard" wired networks
which do not require authentication. It seemed that we would be doing potential harm to
people this way.

This is right. The setup is entirely doable with manual settings, though,
both on CLI and Network Manager. The latter may aid switching between the
use cases mentioned by Tomasz.

I try to attach our old instructions. Acctually, I found running the debug
command line form the CLI document
root@linux# wpa_supplicant -dd -D wired -i eth0 -c
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant_umrnet_lan.conf
very instructive; it gives a super precise idea what the supplicant is trying
do to in what order.

Good luck
Martin
