We are now indeed generating two such profiles. This way if there is a network that wants to be seen as eduroam but for some reason cannot broadcast SSID eduroam, it has the option of broadcasting the eduroam  HS20 identifier. In such a case Windows will present the network to the user as "eduroam® via Passpoint" and will automatically connects just as it would do with an eduroam SSID.

It turns out that there may be commercial that would be willing to give away eduroam for free but not with the eduroam SSID. This approach could also be potentially useful if network ranges from various institutions overlap.

I have removed that SSID from the saved wifi networks just now, and eduroamCAT Windows 10 installer has not re-generated that eduroam® via Passpoint profile.

I think it could be related to HS20:
Hotspot 2.0, also known as HS2 and Wi-Fi Certified Passpoint

It could be that eduroamCAT is installing two profiles:

- eduroam
- eduroam® (eduroam-HS20 (hotspot 2.0))
