Hello,

from reding the thread in this mail, I see that there are a number of
questionable areas.
1) the person enabled installation of apps from unknown sources. There
is no need to do that; the app is in the Play Store. If an installation
guide of a university pushes users towards enabling unknown sources then
that is not something we endorse. That said, the app functions
identically whether installed from Play Store or as a separate download,
so this should not be the source of any problem.
2) Another mail in the thread stated that the user was not able to find
the university in question (leaving open if that was on the
cat.eduroam.org website or in-app). I just verified with my own Android
mobile that a search for "Padova" finds exactly one university in-app;
and the same is true on the website. I'm afraid I can't reproduce that
problem.
3) Besides those two pieces of information, all I can make out of the
conversation is that "it doesn't work" - which is too little information
to further investigate.
What I can say is that there are many Android 8 downloads and
installations and there is thus no systematic problem with that OS version.
Greetings,
Stefan Winter
