Hello,
yes, we've investigated the case.
The institution administrator of Humanitas did not set at least one
coordinate pair for his institution in the CAT admin area. There are in
total five institutions who do the same in Italy.
In the web interface, we work around that lack of information by listing
institutions without coordinates first, subtitling them just "Italy"
without a distance to the user. All the others are sorted by their
respective distance to the user and are displayed in order.
You can see the (subtle) difference in the attached screenshot. First
come 5 institutions listed as "Italy" and then comes the first one with
geo coordinates, listed as "Italy 513 km", which is about correct as the
distance from my office in Luxembourg.
The app currently only lists instutions with geo coordinates and
displays them in order, meaning the institutions without geo coordinates
get lost.
We are working on an app update to fix that in one way or another. IMHO,
the distance-based automatic search should continue to ignore such
institutions because there is no fitting place to inject them in the
list. But of course a manual search for the name should find them.
In the light of this, we might also rethink the order of coordinate-less
institutions in the webpage list; it feels wrong to give such
institutions "priority".
The workaround (and in fact a good idea in genral, IMHO) would be for
the institution to tell the system at least one coordinate pair with the
approximate institution whereabouts.
Greetings,
Stefan Winter
