Indeed it appears that the fix that has been prepared was missing one line.
The new fix is installed an appears to be working.

On two different phones running iOS 12, I get an error message which says ‘Safari could not install a profile due to an unknown error.’ I tried downloading the profile with Firefox and the resulting file can’t be loaded – just displays gibberish. There are no other profiles installed.

 

Phones running eduroam under iOS 11 successfully, then upgraded to 12, seem to be fine.
