Sorry, your suggestion has been overtaken by events. You posted this
only hours before a major upgrade of our service from version 1.1 to 2.0.

That change included a move away from a simple Shell script towards a
native Python script.

I don't think stty is relevant any more in this new setup. Please get
back to the list if you think otherwise.
