Too bad that you are so (too ?) friendly with Eduroam SSID :-) I think the 
choice should be for the eduroam customer/user but this is my own opinion ... 
I'll try to deal with my system's team.

there are OS and BIOS settings which ensure that if the device is connected 
to wired then its wireless is off.  thats the correct approach.
