Hello,

Point 1 (minor):
Seems that "power saving" location is not enough for scad discovery (see
screenshots, in italian, sorry)

If there is sufficient Wi-Fi or mobile network location information, it
should work in that mode.
The new beta now has GeoIP localisation also. It would be interesting if this
provides better results for you?

Point 2:
Our institution, after a sucessful discovery is listed twice or three times
(see
attached screenshot).

Yes, this is because you have multiple similar locations defined in
cat.eduroam.org:
geo":[{"lon":"13.63125828764953","lat":"45.93957686143824"},
{"lon":"12.835752807409676","lat":"45.77452301416993"},
{"lon":"13.793069999999943","lat":"45.6583833"},

{"lon":"13.63125828764953","lat":"45.93957686143824"},
{"lon":"12.835752807409676","lat":"45.77452301416993"},
{"lon":"13.793069999999943","lat":"45.6583833"},

{"lon":"13.63125828764953","lat":"45.93957686143824"},
{"lon":"12.835752807409676","lat":"45.77452301416993"},
{"lon":"13.793069999999943","lat":"45.6583833"}]

They are not similar, but identical, three at a time.
I don't know why in the backend there are 9 coordinates:
in general IdP properties in CAT I see only 3 different locations (screenshot attached)

The IdP has also 3 profiles but I doubt about multiplication for each profile since profiles do not have chance to modify location per-profile.

Seems a bug in CAT

For each defined location with 30Km of your device location, it will list
each profile.

The 3 point are 33,68 64 and 74 kilometers away each other.

I tested with device in location "lon":"13.793069999999943","lat":"45.6583833" and I still see 2 or 3 same-matching institution.

So hopefully this explains your scenario.
Maybe you can tidy up the locations?

I can remove all and recreate.... don't know if this cleans triple coords that may have been cloned by CAT sometime in the past.

Or maybe I can remove repeated entries found nearby programmatically in the
app?

This depends on what we (CAT wide) mean for location:

Same institution in different buildings and same city? Yes, maybe a programmatically cleanup app-side is welcome.

Same institution in different state or spread around the world? Maybe this removal isn't needed.

Gareth Ayres.

I do not know whi this happens with our institution and not with others'
but since our eduroam CAT IdP has 3 different profiles (enogh confusing for
our users), having those 3 profiles listed 3 times adds mess to confusion.
