Firstly, a really big thank-you to all of the CAT eduroam developers – a hugely useful resource, which has helped 1000s of users.

The biggest problem we see is users who omit the realm (@kent.ac.uk in our case) when typing their username.

Some thoughts on how best to tackle:

Just adding some text to remind users to include their realm with their username would help of course.

Would it be possible to include code in the tools to check the username for an @ (and at least one . somewhere after the @ ) and if missing, prompt them with some explanatory text and an example, plus refuse to offer Next until they include an @ and at least one . perhaps?

At Kent, users end up on a dead-end Vlan, and are prompted with a page to explain what they’ve done wrong and how to dig themselves out which helps, but it would be even nicer to trap the issue before they connect.

Best wishes,

Jim
