Are you asking if we run all virtual implementations on a single notebook or 
we run on own notebooks and then connect?

I had started a separate email thread some time ago and planned to bring that 
to the  list after some initial discussion. Unless we are going 
to use GEANT resources for the interop testing, perhaps we should continue 
there.

as far as i know simon and me will be in prague ietf this year on the 
hackathon, finally.... :)

So what will be the setup?

 

2 sets of PE (a set per vendor). Connected through a core of multi-vendor BIER.

 

Beside Juniper and Nokia is other implementations? If so what do they use for MVPN?

- MVPN overlay. Suggest using DCB label (draft-ietf-bess-mvpn-evpn-aggregation-label) instead of upstream assigned label

HB> MVPN is fine, but we support RFC6514 with label VRF label and BIER tunnel for IPMSI or SPMSI

 

Both I/S-PMSI are fine. RFC8556 covers MVPN-BIER and calls for upstream assigned labels in PMSI Tunnel Attribute. For simplicity and better scalability, DCB label ((draft-ietf-bess-mvpn-evpn-aggregation-label) can be used instead and that’s what we implement.

 

If that’s a problem we can still do transit BFR interop testing.

I am starting this new thread because the original thread got a bit unfocused. Feel free to add more people to this.
We can extend to the WG mailing list after some initial discussion offline.

Here are some thoughts on the scope:

- MPLS encapsulation, BitStringLength 256 (and other lengths that vendors can support)
- ISIS underlay. Multi-subdomain. Multi-topology? Multi-level?
- MVPN overlay. Suggest using DCB label (draft-ietf-bess-mvpn-evpn-aggregation-label) instead of upstream assigned label

We need to figure out details like how to set up the testing network - I assume we'll have a mix of both physical and virtual boxes.
