regarding the first question, the sh run stops at more prompt, the issue is 
most probably is in
the differences between the default *nix terminal vs the terminal used in 
telecommunication...
https://github.com/rare-freertr/freeRtr/blob/master/src/r.sh is the script i 
used to start freertr
to overcome the problem you describe... regarding the second question of you, 
not pings, unfortunately
the email was forwarded to the list without the attachments so i cannot see 
the image... could you
please re-send to the list with the images, or even better, copy-paste the 
offending lines from
the terminal to the email?
