Hi,

I’m pleased to announce that the GÉANT P4 lab has integrated a new P4 switch
@ CERN (E513-E-YECWH-1)

Integrated does not mean it is exclusive to GP4L, CERN keep the right to
extract the switch from the topology anytime.

However, integration means that:

* E513-E-YECWH-1 will be supervised by CERN NMS tool chain
* besides E513-E-YECWH-1 benefit from NMaaS tools
* If multicast is available from leg connecting the P4 switch.
Practically, means that any users from CERN is able to receive multicast
natively from any source within the P4 lab.
—> imagine CERN (T0) streaming in unicast a large quantity of flows
This stream can be converted to multicast into the BIER P4 Domain
any T1 or T2 computing centre interested in this streams will be
able to receive it instantly _NATIVELY_ or via AMT-relay.
And this without any flow modification (except from AMT tunnel tail
leg).

This P4 switch will be also used by CERN in order to validate their use case
requirements:
"Traffic flow steering based on IPv6 flow label »

In addition to that, CERN has surrounded this P4 switch 3 additional DTN.
One of them is being also tested as a RARE/freeRtr with DPDK dataplane.

Beginning next year, these DTN will become 100GE capable. This paves the way
to exciting transatlantic traffic engineering with north/latin America.
Lots of research project can benefit from the outcome of these experiment.

Thanks to Edoardo and large kudos to Carmen for her thorough
involvement/energy in deploying this setup.

Stay tuned !

All the best,
Frederic
