hi,
please fill in the doodle if you're willing to participate in the hackathon
in person...
(if not, then please click "cannot attend" at the bottom of the page, just to
see that opinion too!)

Hi,
We did try for IETF 112 to organise a hackathon around bier and AMT multicast
that would include RARE/FreeRtr/P4 Lab, but with the others interested (Jake
at Akamai, Greg at Cisco, Lenny at Cisco, and others) we never homed in on a
specific proposal. But we could try again.
There is a call to discuss multicast later today (in 45 mins, 5pm CET!) if
interested; RARE/FreeRtr are on the table again, and the tests we might agree
to run in/out of the P4 lab using AMT or other translators. There is now
thanks to Csaba AMT for FreeRtr. The call is at:
https://jisc.zoom.us/j/99563770580?pwd=K3Z5LzdNNWNrL2I0ZUw0Rm03dWkyUT09
Or a hackathon focused on RARE/FreeRtr rather than multicast is also possible.

from anybody, i can offer a visit to my homenet where basically
everything except the microwave runs rare/freerouter... :)

To general surprise, the IETF announced that the next meeting (IETF
113[1]) will be hybrid again (after many virtual-only meetings due to
COVID-19), with the on-site part in Europe, Vienna to be precise.
As usual, there will be a hackathon[2] organized on the first weekend
(19/20 March). If we want to propose something around RARE/FreeRTR, we
can add it to the Wiki page[3].
What do people think? Would this be a nice opportunity for the growing
RARE/FreeRTR community to try to meet physically(!?)? Or is it too soon?
I guess it strongly depends on who would be willing to travel to Vienna
in mid-March - just eight weeks from now. I for one would give this a
try, but what about the key folks such as Csaba, Fr d ric, Alex, Carmen,
or the colleagues from Brazil?
There is even a remote participation option involving a Layer 2 VPN[4].
(Currently this seems to be supported only on Mikrotik devices, so I
guess we have the first possible programming project idea already :-)
Cheers,
