Dear eduGAIN community,

On behalf of the Trust & Identity Incubator I would like to draw your attention to the following matters: the TIM programme, our Call for Ideas and the next public demo.

Trust & Identity Mentorship (TIM) programme

The programme is an initiative that brings together ambitious young minds and subject matters experts to pioneer and prototype new ideas in the Trust and Identity field. TIM is a collaboration between subject experts (SME's and also known as content mentors) of WP5 T2 - T&I Incubator task, GLAD, NRENs (home mentors) and young professionals (participants) across Europe. The overall aim of the program it to contribute to a viable and sustainable pipeline of T&I products and services for the GN4.3 project and ultimately, for the European NREN community.

We are still looking for students who would like to work in the Incubator as part of our 7-month internship. We welcome applications, especially from NRENs that have not yet participated. The deadline for applications is May 01.

Learn more about the TIM program at https://wiki.geant.org/display/GIG/TIM+Programme

Call for Ideas

We are still looking for new topics to work on in the next Incubator cycle. If you have bright ideas or difficult problems, please share them with us. We also take ideas from the wider T&I community, such as institutes or research communities, so feel free to pass on the info.

Just like last time, we are looking again for new topics to work on in the Incubator. Therefore we would like to invite you to bring your own ideas to the table. We consider any topic in T&I or a related area as long as the idea is somewhat novel and has the potential to benefit the R&E community. You are welcome to suggest concrete projects as well as just abstract ideas. You got a problem but no solution? Just share it, maybe we can find a solution together!

If you have any ideas that might be suitable for the incubator, don’t hesitate to submit it. You may easily share your idea by adding it to https://wiki.geant.org/x/CAE2Cw
If there is already an idea that you like, show your support by giving your +1. This helps us to identify which topics are interesting for you.
The topic submission deadline for cycle 6 is May 01.

In order to get a better understanding of what we do, feel free to check our current and previous topics at the Incubator Dashboard (https://wiki.geant.org/x/46zTC).

Final demo for cycle 5

The goal of the demo event is to periodically present the results produced in the Incubator. Since this is the second public demo for this cycle, we will present the final results of this cycle. This is the perfect opportunity to find out about a range of emerging developments in T&I.

All demos are public, you may join any session you like. It is not necessary to attend all sessions, you may join only the ones you are interested in. This time we have planned three exciting sessions for you:
  • Alternative MDX - a distributed, high available CDN like platform for MDQ
  • Account Linking - a new and easy to use user interface to support the account linking process (Trust & Identity Mentorship student project)
  • Distributed Identity Revisited - investigating risks and opportunities of this new identity paradigm for the T&I NREN community
All sessions will be recorded and published at https://wiki.geant.org/x/gYCbGg soon after the event.

I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Best regards,
Michael
