Hi,
We have just enabled a new version of the entities database - the
interface and extended database structure. There is one bug-fix in the
CSV downloads, but the real differences are in the API access

The new things are:
1. The API documentation.
There is a menu item Access API in the TOOLS submenu pointing to:
https://technical.edugain.org/api_doc
There is not much on the page at the moment, except to the pointer to
the api.php itself. I have made the API to be self documenting, api.php
without parameters will show the basic information and the list of
available actions, and each action called with the help argument will
print out detailed usage information. I plan to add information about
the output fields and their names are not always completely obvious.

2. access to historical data of eduGAIN
There are two actions available here:

show_global_history
this will show you global information about eduGAIN for a particular
date or a list of records between specified dates.
Since we do not have full statistics from deeper past you may exclude
the dates for which we did not find the edugain xml file by adding the
not_empty parameter.
The information presented is:
numbers of federations - production, voting-only and candidate - since
these are calculated from document dates, we can show the numbers for
every day

entity information extracted form the XML files
Those numbers are:
all_cnt - entities count
idp_, sp_cnt, aa_cnt, aaonly_cnt - obvious role counts
there is also r_cnt which is the count of RoleDescriptor elements (only
present in SWAMID metadata) this one is more to show the popularity of
this approach and can be dropped if people decide it does not make sense.=

There are also counts for declared scopes, coco, sirtfi, Hide From
Discovery (hfd) and R&S (rands)

show_per_federation_history
This is the same counting information as for the global_history but
counted per federation. You can get all federations records or select a
particular one.
Just realised that we forgot to implement the not_enpty argument there,
so this one will appear soon as well.

I suggest using the format=3Dprint_r argument to play with the results in=

the browser. the default format is json.

These things should be seen as tool to build other things on, like
statistics display that is being built by the eduGAIN research team.

Cheers
Tomasz
