Hi,
http://technical.edugain.org/ is on-line for testing. We will still need to make it available over https.
This is not yet an official site.

http://technical.edugain.org/entities.php shows the listing of eduGAIN entities with various possibilities of filtering. This is still work in progress, but any comments are welcome. Unfortunately it looks like some of our database queries will need to be reorganised which may lead to better information quality, but slightly worse performance, so some changes need to be expected.

Cheers
Tomasz

I have created an example information page:

Please let me know if this meets the requirements in any way, perhaps more information is useful, perhaps the layout could be improved?

Our plan is to set up the technical site at https://technical.edugain.org - possibly a more user-friendly name.

I have digested the thread and I strongly agree with Peter that publishing too much can be harmful, but I also understand your need to point to a single place that could lead the IdP further to their home federations.

I do not think that eduGAIN should publish links to metadata feeds, not to mention the signing certificate of any federation, what it can do is provide pointers to federation pages. http://www.edugain.org/technical/status.php uses the edugain database to provide technical information, it is trivial enough to produce a separate page showing just a list of federations as links to their home pages. I also see not problem in providing this information in JSON if someone prefers to build one's own page, here however we would possibly need to consider if we want to allow that or rather prefer to keep this info in an eduGAIN https page.

By the way, eduGAIN database now contains all entities and can provide some interesting info. While this is still work in progress, I hope I will be able to present a peek view of this by the end of this week.

I agree with Chris that we have a visibility problem of the technical site. This happens every time someone decides to rebuild the GEANT page and drops the link to the technical site. I hope we can influence the responsible people to reinstate this.

Cheers
Tomasz

Hi Nicole, all,

That looks very useful. Two feature requests:
1) the ability to add a link to local support documentation (basically
my initial question that started this discussion)
2) a version that can be directly referenced. Currently it is based on
a _javascript_ event, which makes this impossible.

Cheers,
Niels
