Interesting. Both LeifJ and ScottC have indicated on this and the REFEDS
list that the MARI activiy within REFEDS in fact tries to re-establish
the usability of isRequired=true|false.
See the very recent thread titled "mari plan & next steps".

Would you share with us who will make that distinction vanish, and make
it vanish from where, specifically? What about laywers, as mentioned
by Leif in the aforementioned thread? What about the Code of Conduct?
