GÉANT Intranet eduGAIN Integration

 

SA5 T5 and NA1 T6 are currently working in collaboration to integrate GÉANT Intranet with eduGAIN to decentralise user account management, while centrally managing access control. This will enable users to login to the GÉANT Intranet using the credentials issued and managed by their home organisation. The project is in the User Acceptance Test (UAT) stage, and will soon be rolled out into the production environment in phased manner:

 

Phase 1 : All NREN staff members will be able to login to GÉANT Intranet using the credentials issued and managed by their home organisations. This will give them Read-Only access to the GÉANT Intranet. Existing project participants should continue to use their GEANT credentials.

 

Phase 2: All GN3plus project participants and NREN staff members will be able to login to the GÉANT Intranet using their federated identity. This will give them appropriate access rights based on their role.

 

If you are unsure whether your NREN has a federated identity, please contact your NREN IT team. If you do not have a federated identity, you can request an user account from GÉANT Identity Provider (GIdP) – please see https://gidp.geant.net/gidp/nreninfo.gidp.
