this is most certainly not connected to that upgrade.

Your own eduGAIN Identity Provider likely changed its setup and reports your user ID differently - and so the system considers you "someone else".

Please contact your eduroam National Roaming Operator (UK: JISC). They have had many such cases over time and can help you out.
