Hi Geant,

At Liverpool John Moores University we currently have 2 methods to on-board devices to Eduroam. The first is a website with a link to simply redirect to https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=289 This works great for 3G/4G mobile phones. The second is an open SSID on our Cisco WLAN Controllers with a captive portal and ACL which again redirects to the cattool (ideal for none 3G/4G devices like laptops).

Recently we have been having problems with some of our Android devices using the Cattool. After downloading the Cattool and trying to run it - they get “Can’t Open File”. Unfortunately this then prevents the use of the Cattool which we know and love.  Are you aware of any current issues with Android devices and the Cattool? Is there an known issue with the device executing the installer?

For info: I’ve also been experimenting with tweaking the ACL on our open SSID (just in case something is being blocked) but this appears to be unrelated.

Hope you can help

Kind Regards

Hi David,

Android Oreo is shown as supported by CAT which is good. From what you are saying it sounds like a file permissions issue but we (eduroam UK

team) don't develop or support CAT - the best place to get help with this would be the cat-users AT lists.geant.org mailing list, which is the official support channel.

Regards,

Nik
