eduroam CAT does not support Mac OS X 10.6. This operating system was
last updated by the vendor in July 2011 and is considered "dead" by
Apple since a long time.

If you tried to download an installer from the CAT website then the
button has probably told you quite clearly that you were downloading for
another version. It's not surprising that the downloaded file does not
work then.

Maybe your local university's IT helpdesk is still willing to help you
with this old machine.
