Hello,

we have done some more tests on this. The result was:
We were unable to find any example of an android device that
could be provisioned with correct eduroam settings by means
of local storage only. While we did manage to install the
app from the .apk, nothing would make the app come up through
file access afterwards. Tests included Android 6 and 7 devices of
different manufacturers (among them a brandnew, unaltered Fairphone 2)
and a couple of different file managers. Only when a MIME ist supplied
at some point in the provisioning process, the OS will get hold of the
connection and launch eduroam CAT. If someone knows how to do it,
I would be glad to hear.

I finally asked Ayres (the Android developer) whether the app
could have a file selector dialog for manual selection from inside
the app, and he agreed. So there is an issue on github now:
